The animals attacked are eight sheep, a dwarf goat and a fallow deer.
The last four attacks have occurred in a circular area of three kilometers in recent days.
All eight attacks have been checked and found to be lynx attacks.
- Based on the fact that the attacks have taken place within a limited area for a limited period of time, we assess that it is probably the same individual and that protection hunting is the only alternative, says unit manager Fredrik Ustrup at the County Administrative Board.
The injured farmers have, with the help of the county administrative board's inspectors, to some extent taken damage prevention emergency measures, such as overhauling fences and installing other sheep.
The County Administrative Board assesses that established guidelines for protection hunting of lynx have been met and that there is no other suitable solution than protection hunting.
