Emmanuel Macron will organize "a major conference" on the health system if he is re-elected in April as President of the Republic, said Thursday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

With a view to a second five-year

A second five-year term to “continue the movements undertaken and amplify them”.

Coming to praise the results of the president-candidate during a “great oral health” organized by the French Hospital Federation (FHF), Olivier Véran began to unveil the program that Emmanuel Macron presented in the afternoon.

The priority will thus be to “roll back medical deserts by relying on cooperation between professionals”, but “without rushing (or) cutting back on the safety of care”.

Olivier Véran also mentioned "an ambitious plan around women's health", in particular on the subjects of infertility, menopause and postpartum, as well as "complete and free health check-ups at the key ages of life” to improve prevention.

The health of the other candidates

For her part, the socialist candidate Anne Hidalgo had put forward her objective of training "15,000 doctors per year" (against a little more than 10,000 today), but was "not for an obligation" to install in the medical deserts.

Ecologist Yannick Jadot, on the contrary, defended a three-year "installation obligation" - "last year of study and first two years of exercise" - for young graduates, "until we have enough of doctors”.

On the right, Valérie Pécresse for her part proposed to send "4,000 junior doctors" for a year to medical deserts, and defended an increase in the price of medical consultations from 25 to 30 euros because "today we don't pay not the right price”.
