A unanimous committee decided on Thursday that Ukrainian refugees will have free travel on the city buses in the city.

The free travel is valid for six months.

- It is a small gesture of solidarity for the people fleeing from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, says Anna Thunell (MP) chair of the technical committee.

National directives are needed

How public transport will be solved in the whole of Västmanland is still unclear.

Arne Andersson, director of the public transport administration Region Västmanland, believes that there is a lack of directives from the government and authorities for how the regions should think and work.

- We must find a solution for all municipalities and the entire county, that question is on our table all the time.

We would have liked the Swedish Migration Agency and others to step forward here now and put on the leader's shirt.

What does the work look like here in the county?

- We work in parallel to look at what solutions we can stand for.

But it is better if you find a national attitude in this, says Arne Andersson, director of public transport administration.
