The aftermath of the attack overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in the center of Nice.
Two men aged 19 and 24 must be presented this Thursday evening to a judge for their indictment for having injured a transgender person with a knife, one of the authors explaining that he wanted to "kill a homosexual in the name of Allah" , said the prosecution.
Judicial information is open "for attempted murder because of the sexual orientation of the victim, apology for terrorism and possession of narcotics," said deputy prosecutor Jean-Philippe Navarre.
"As the case stands, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office does not claim jurisdiction," he added.
He wanted to "die as a martyr" and "go to heaven"
According to RTL, which revealed these facts, the man suspected of having stabbed the victim shouted “Allahu Akbar” several times while he was being chased by the police.
He allegedly asked officials to shoot him, saying he wanted to "die a martyr" and "go to heaven".
He also said he wanted to "kill a homosexual in the name of Allah", according to the police statement.
The vital prognosis of the victim, who was injured in the back, face and arm, is not engaged.
A second transgender person who accompanied him was present at the time of the events.
