Hear Daniel Andersson about why the municipality chooses to turn to private individuals

So far, about 40 refugees from Ukraine have sought refuge in Åmål.

Most of them currently live in Åmål's parish home.

It is not the Swedish Migration Agency that has placed the refugees in the municipality, but they have applied to Åmål on their own.

The parish home is not intended as a long-term solution.

Therefore, the municipality has now opened up for private individuals to rent out housing to the municipality for financial compensation.

- These are private individuals and companies that have permanent housing for rent.

Not without risk

The municipality says that the financial compensation should correspond to land rents.

Is there a risk that people can be exploited when bringing in private individuals?

- Yes, of course, unfortunately there are always those types of people.

But we at the municipality are trying to take precautionary measures, says Daniel Andersson.
