China News Service, March 15. According to the US "World Journal", a 47-year-old Chinese woman in San Diego, USA, Ms. Li (Yan Li, transliteration) was shot dead by the police during law enforcement a few days ago. The reason behind it is embarrassing.

Ms Lee's house was put up for auction because she did not pay the Home Owners Authority (HOA).

When the police went to issue a deportation order a few days ago, Ms. Li resisted fiercely. She waved a knife at the police dog and the police, causing a policeman to be stabbed. Ms. Li was shot by the police and died on the spot.

At noon on March 3, at an apartment in the 400 block of West Beech Street in San Diego’s Little Italy area, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department dispatched officers to the door of Ms. Li’s apartment to issue a court eviction order.

Ms. Li was wearing sportswear and sneakers at the time. When she first opened the door, she was in a normal mood and could clearly answer her name.

She became emotional after seeing the deportation order. The police saw her with a knife in her hand and immediately took out the gun and told her to put down the weapon.

The two stood at a standstill for several minutes. Ms. Li roared hysterically, expressing that she was not afraid at all, and questioned the police as intruders and fake police, then threw away the deportation order in her hand and slammed the door.

The law enforcement officer had to seek assistance, and an employee at the apartment told him that Ms. Li threatened a repairman with a knife the day before yesterday.

The police then tried to communicate with Ms. Li, but failed to get her cooperation after 45 minutes.

At 1:30 pm that day, the apartment staff assisted the police to open Ms. Li's door, and the police rushed into the room with police dogs.

Wielding a kitchen knife, Ms. Li stabbed a K9 police dog trainer, causing police to open fire and shoot at her. Ms. Li fell to the ground with at least one gunshot wound and died at the scene.

Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Division are currently investigating the events surrounding Ms. Lee's death as it involves standard protocol for law enforcement shootings in San Diego.

Civil rights lawyer John Carpenter, who has seen the police footage, said the shooting appeared to be legal because Ms. Lee attacked officers, but questions and criticism focused on the actions of law enforcement officers prior to the shooting because, as a man about to lose his house, It's bound to be emotional.

It is understood that Ms. Li has lived here for many years, but because of arrears with the Housing Committee, the Committee placed a lien on her house, which caused her house to be auctioned at a low price.

A person named Johnny G posted on NEXTDOOR that Ms. Lee is a PhD in biostatistics from Yale University who has worked in pharmaceutical and biotech companies for many years.

Ms. Li's mental illness was difficult to treat, but she received no outside help, including HOA fees.

Tragedy might have been averted if police had taken this into account before taking action.

This matter has sparked heated discussions on the Chinese Internet, with more than 100 pages of discussion, and everyone's focus is whether the House Committee has the power to auction houses for unpaid HOA fees.

Lawyer Liu Longzhu said that if the homeowner refuses to pay the HOA, the homeowners committee can place a lien on the house through the court. This process will take several steps, and the final result is that the house will be auctioned off.
