Iran announced on Tuesday the establishment of the Nuclear Revolutionary Guards Command to protect the country's nuclear facilities, coinciding with the discovery of the arrest of an "Israeli sabotage network."

This is the first time that it has been officially confirmed that the Revolutionary Guards will protect nuclear facilities.

It is noteworthy that about 10 months ago, after several cases of sabotage in nuclear facilities, the head of the Civil Defense Organization in Iran, Brigadier-General Gholam Reza Jalali, announced the establishment of a unified command for defense and nuclear security.

He said at the time that the establishment of this command will address the previous weaknesses completely, and the group of nuclear facilities will become immune to sabotage operations.

The establishment of the Nuclear Revolutionary Guard Corps was announced during the report on the disclosure of a network that was planning to sabotage the "Fordo" nuclear facility.

Yesterday, Monday, Iranian television said that the Revolutionary Guards managed to thwart a "sabotage operation", which it described as complex, targeting a nuclear facility south of the capital, Tehran, and all members of the cell cooperating with the Mossad (Israeli intelligence service) were arrested to implement it.

He added that Israel was planning to carry out a major sabotage act at the Fordow nuclear facility near the city of Qom, before March 20.

The same source indicated that Tel Aviv had recruited elements to get close to technicians working in the sixth generation centrifuge department at the facility.

Iranian television said that a Mossad officer contacted one of the technicians at the facility, and that the latter cooperated with him by providing information about it.

He also stated that the intelligence service of the Revolutionary Guards arrested all the elements of the cell collaborating with the Mossad.
