Russia on Tuesday announced sanctions against President Joe Biden and other top US leaders, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in response to Washington's punitive measures against Moscow over Ukraine.

This measure "is the inevitable consequence of the extremely Russophobic trend maintained by the current US government

," the Russian foreign minister said in a statement.

In total, 13 officials in the United States are affected by these sanctions, about which no further details were given.

At the same time, the United States Department of State announced on Tuesday sanctions against 11 senior defense officials of the Russian Government and the Army of that country for the invasion of Ukraine.

The sanctions imply that all the properties of those affected in US territory become blocked and US citizens are prohibited from having commercial transactions with them.
