In about five years, the idea is that one of Sweden's largest primary schools in terms of number of pupils will be located in Ljungskile.

Uddevalla municipality wants to build a completely new school with room for around 1000 students aged 6-15 years.

The municipality plans for the new school to be located in the same place as the current Ljungskileskolan.

But the plans drawn up have aroused criticism from both teachers and parents: they point to smaller spaces, poorly planned premises - and that a car road would go straight through the planned school area.

In an attempt to stop the new construction, a submission of almost 200 pages has been submitted in which they argue against the construction.

Instead, they want to see a completely different solution where they keep the current Ljungskileskolan and build a completely new school, in a different location.

- We believe that there is a much better solution that is cheaper, says parent Per Bergström Jonsson.

United politicians

Uddevalla municipality has been working with the new school in Ljungskile for almost three years, now only details remain before planning to sign a contract to build the new school.

And according to Ekeroos (M), there is a consensus among politicians that the new school is the best option.

But many who are critical of the new school also think that they have not involved residents or staff enough.

- From our side we have gone out with information, there is no secrecy.

But it has been a pandemic and we have not been able to meet.

But this should not have to be the case, it's very sad, says Ekeroos.
