Zou Yangyang is the 400th hematopoietic stem cell donor in Anhui Province and the 91st hematopoietic stem cell donor in Hefei City. He is currently working in a health management company in Hefei. Volunteers who donated stem cells, with the support of their family members, successfully helped an acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient in Zhejiang regain a new life.
Zhang Xiguang is the 401st case of hematopoietic stem cell donors in Anhui Province and the 92nd case of hematopoietic stem cell donors in Hefei City. As a counselor and teacher of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering of Anhui University, he is also the head of the school's Red Cross volunteer service team. Organized and carried out public welfare activities, and successfully helped a patient with aplastic anemia in Hebei to see the hope of life.
According to the Red Cross Society of Anhui Province, the hematopoietic stem cell donation work in Anhui was officially launched in May 2004. The province has established a provincial management center, 16 municipal workstations, the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China, and Southern Anhui. There are 5 designated hospitals for hematopoietic stem cell collection including Yijishan Hospital affiliated to the Medical College, 1 HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) typing laboratory in Hefei Central Blood Station, and more than 600 backbone volunteers in the hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer service team.
Up to now, a total of 59,230 hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteers in Anhui Province have joined the hematopoietic stem cell donor database (China Bone Marrow Bank), and 401 cases have been successfully donated.
According to statistics, among the 401 hematopoietic stem cell donations in Anhui Province, 397 were donated to 27 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and 4 were donated to the United States, South Korea, India and Mongolia.
The donation age was 18-35 years old, accounting for 69.1%, and the youngest was 19 years old at the time of donation.
Hefei Red Cross Society, as the first pilot workstation of the Anhui Branch of the Chinese Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donor Database, actively carries out hematopoietic stem cell donation related work.
By the end of 2021, the number of people in storage in Hefei was 26,523, accounting for 44.78% of the total storage capacity in Anhui Province.
