The campaign is aimed primarily at those who have not yet taken a vaccine dose at all.

In Sweden, every tenth person over the age of 12 is unvaccinated.

Signar Mäkitalo, an infection control doctor in Sörmland, explains that this is partly due to the fact that some people believe that they do not become seriously ill from the omicron variant and that some are still worried about the side effects.

"Make a difference"

According to Signar Mäkitalo, vaccination campaigns make a difference and he gives an example from last Sunday when there was drop-in vaccination at a shopping center in Eskilstuna.

- A handful took their first dose.

Given that it was a drop in, it is not at all certain that these people would otherwise have been vaccinated.

The latest statistics from the region show that 16 people in the county are cared for in hospitals for covid-19, which is an increase from last week when seven people were admitted.

SVT Nyheter Sörmland visited a health center in Eskilstuna on Tuesday where they extended their drop-in times during the week.
