The voices against the Russian invasion continue to grow.

Repression of this movement continues in Russia, and during the news on state-run TV, a woman jumped in and shouted 'no war' and held a protest.

This is reporter Kim Seok-jae's report.

<Reporter> Last

night (14th), during the live news of Channel 1, the Russian state broadcaster, suddenly a thumping sound was heard and a woman jumped in.

[Anti-war.

Stop the war.]

The embarrassed anchor continued the process with a louder voice, but the protest continued until the screen was replaced with another video.

She said, "Stop the war. Don't believe the propaganda. These are lying to you."

Anti-war phrases written in English and Russian on a piece of paper the woman was holding were also broadcast throughout Russia.

The woman who took part in the protest was Maria Ovshanikova, an employee of the broadcaster.

Even in a video of her filmed before her protest, Ov Shanikova said that her father was Ukrainian and urged Russia to stop the war.

[Obshanikova/Russian state broadcasting channel 1 employee: What is currently happening in Ukraine is a crime.

Russia is the aggressor.

One person is responsible for this attack, and that is Vladimir Putin.]

He also confessed that he was ashamed of working for the state broadcaster and propagating the Kremlin for several years.

[Obshanikova/Russian State Broadcasting Channel 1 Employee: I'm embarrassed to let lies appear on TV.

It's a shame that I fooled the Russian people.]

After the protests, Ovshanikova was arrested by the police on charges of distributing fake news.

Her foreign press said she could face her maximum sentence of 15 years.

Russia has been using unprecedented crackdown on anti-war protesters and the media, with 15,000 protesters detained and more than 24 media outlets shut down.
