China News Service, Beijing, March 15 (Reporter Huang Yuqin Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on March 15.

A reporter asked whether China is worried about being sanctioned by the United States due to the situation in Russia and Ukraine.

Zhao Lijian: China has made clear its position on the issue of sanctions on many occasions. China does not support the use of sanctions to solve the problem, and is even more opposed to unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law.

Practice has proved that sanctions will not only fail to solve the problem, but will also create new problems, which will not only lead to an economic "lose-lose" or "lose-lose" situation, but also interfere with and affect the process of political settlement.

At present, the world economy is already very difficult to be affected by the impact of the epidemic. The relevant sanctions will have an impact on the recovery of the world economy and will be detrimental to all parties.

We strongly urge the US to not harm China's legitimate rights and interests when handling relations with Russia.

China and Russia will continue to carry out normal economic and trade cooperation in the spirit of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
