Washington announced that Russia will suffer the consequences if it nationalizes American companies on its soil, and despite that, it stressed that "no one believes that sanctions against Russia will be 100% effective."

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Washington had made it clear that "there will be consequences for Russia" if it takes nationalization.

"We don't see any evidence at this point that Russian President Vladimir Putin is doing anything to stop the attack or stop the escalation... No one believes that sanctions against Russia will be 100% effective," she added.

"There is no doubt that if Russia decides to use chemical weapons, there will be a violent response from the international community," she added.

Regarding gas prices, Psaki said: "I have no expectations regarding prices, but we still think that they will continue to rise."
