The wind farm has been named Aurora and is planned to be located 20 kilometers outside Gotland and 30 kilometers from Öland.

In total, the park is planned to include up to 370 wind turbines with a maximum height of 370 meters.

Last autumn, the project was out for consultation.

- I feel that we have had a good dialogue with the local residents and that there is great interest in the energy issue and offshore wind.

What is always required in such consultations is how it will be seen from land.

But the park is quite far out.

It is not even within Sweden's territory, but in Sweden's economic zone, says Kristina Nilsson Bromander who is the project manager for the park.

Electricity for five million households

The company's application concerns a permit to conduct business from a Natura 2000 perspective and includes an environmental impact statement.

Electricity production for the wind farm is estimated to amount to approximately 24 Twh per year, which corresponds to an annual electricity consumption for approximately five million households.

- We estimate that the first electricity from the park will be delivered in 2030. Construction we estimate can start in 2027/2028, says Kristina Nilsson Bromander.
