A resident of Champagne-sur-Seine (Seine-et-Marne) was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 euros, including 500 euros suspended, last Thursday.

She had appeared before the Fontainebleau Criminal Court for throwing newly born puppies into a garbage container, reports

La République de Seine-et-Marne

.

On April 22, 2020, a local resident discovered the baby dogs in the parking lot of her residence and alerted the police.

The investigators had quickly tracked down the owner and discovered two other puppies in her home, locked in a plastic bag.

The mother, a Belgian shepherd Groenendael, was in bad shape.

Very thin, she was covered in fleas.

Precedents

The animal defense association Stéphane Lamart had filed a complaint and recovered the dogs, which had been entrusted to a foster family.

In a press release relayed by our colleagues, the association explains that the defendant had refused to have her two females and her male sterilized.

Overwhelmed by births, she had already entrusted puppies to associations.
