Barack Obama announced on Sunday that he tested positive for Covid-19 after mild symptoms.

The former American president, however, claims to feel “good”.

“I had a rough throat for a few days, but otherwise I feel fine,” he said on his Twitter account.

His wife Michelle Obama received a negative test, he said.

A call to get vaccinated

“Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and to have received a booster dose,” added the former Democratic president, calling for vaccination “even if the cases drop” in the country.

The number of contaminations has indeed dropped drastically in the United States in recent weeks, with around 40,000 daily cases in recent days, against up to 700,000 at the peak of the Omicron wave in mid-January.

The number of deaths is also falling.

The American health authorities thus largely relaxed their recommendations on wearing a mask at the end of February.
