Martha Desrumeaux (1897-1982) is one of the greatest figures of French trade unionism.

First woman elected to the Central Committee of the French Communist Party, she will also be one of the first sixteen parliamentary representatives in France...

Born into a poor family in the North of France, Martha Desrumeaux was placed at the age of 8 as a maid.

A worker at 11, a trade unionist two years later, she made equal pay between men and women one of the main battles of her life.

Under the Occupation, she joined the Resistance and was deported to Ravensbrück.
