Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 202207:00 a.m., March 14, 2022

On August 13, 1792, King Louis XVI, his wife Marie-Antoinette and Louis-Charles, the Dauphin, were taken to the Temple prison.

Three days earlier, the Revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace.

The future Louis XVII was then only 7 years old, and was going to experience two years of ordeal in solitude and deprivation… How were his days going?

What are his relations with his jailers?

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of History", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach recounts the life in prison of the young Louis XVII.

In the summer of 1792, King Louis XVI and his family were transferred to the former Templar tower, now a state prison, under the pretext of ensuring their safety as the Revolution rumbled.

Louis-Charles, who became dauphin following the death of his older brother Louis-Joseph, was still a young child.

He grew up within the four walls of the Temple, under the constant surveillance of the jailers, without any means of corresponding with the outside world.

Yet young Louis-Charles very quickly learns to bear his own terror to lighten his parents' burden and instead try to brighten their days.

In this new episode of the Europe 1 Studio podcast "At the heart of history", Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach describes the days of the man who is about to become Louis XVII.
