As the number of refugees from Ukraine increases, the Komeito has proposed to the government an urgent proposal for a new system, such as eliminating the need for underwriters, so that Japan can be accepted even if there are no relatives or acquaintances. He showed his thoughts on how to deal with it.

Komeito's Chief Cabinet Secretary of State Takeuchi and his colleagues met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno at the Prime Minister's Office and offered urgent suggestions for accepting refugees from Ukraine.

It states that a new system should be established, such as eliminating the need for underwriters and enabling long-term stays so that refugees can be accepted even if there are no relatives or acquaintances in Japan.

In addition to securing housing and providing employment support in cooperation with local governments and NPOs, the government should also take financial measures for local governments.

He also said that humanitarian assistance to the local area needs to be further strengthened, and is calling for increased assistance to the countries around Ukraine, where many people are evacuating.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno responded, "There are many requests for support from groups and local governments in Japan, and we would like to consider immediate response."

Mr. Takeuchi told reporters, "The situation is getting longer and I would like to ask for more support."
