Katya Nepomnishchay fled her home just outside the Ukrainian capital Kyiv via Turkey to Poland.

From there she took a ferry to Sweden.

Last Wednesday, she arrived at her destination - Carina Jonsson's home in Östersund.

Received a lot of help

With her on the run, Katya Nepomnishchay had no more than a small suitcase.

She has received a lot of help from Carina Jonsson and other fellow human beings, and is grateful for the reception she has received.

In Sweden, she wants to work, and she is already studying Swedish on an app on her mobile phone.

In Ukraine, she worked with administration at a private clinic.

- I can not just sit, she says.

Family scattered

Katya Nepomnishchay's mother has left Ukraine and is now in Romania, where she works for an aid organization caring for sick children who have fled the war.

The sister has fled to Spain.

Her father and several other relatives are still in Ukraine.

- Every morning he writes to me: "I live", she says.
