Iran announces that it thwarted a Mossad operation against the Fordow nuclear facility, and took revenge with "hackers"

Iranian media said, on Monday evening, that the Mossad had tried to attack the main Fordow site for uranium enrichment in Iran.

There was no way to independently confirm the report, and Tehran repeatedly claims to have arrested Mossad cells when in fact it is only arresting local opposition elements.

According to Iranian media, a statement issued by the intelligence unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated that a Mossad team was arrested that was trying to carry out an act of sabotage in Fordow.

Moreover, it was reported that an employee obtained cash and a laptop for vandalizing the site, but the IRGC arrested and detained him.

Fordow is the second most important uranium-enrichment centrifuge site after the Natanz facility.

The location of Fordow is also important because Israeli intelligence and nuclear experts believe that it was previously supposed to be the place where Iran would carry out the final stages of enriching uranium to a level of 90% as a weapon and because it is difficult to attack from the air, being located under the mountain.

The Israeli government confirmed late Monday that a large number of government websites had been bombed and may still be under a massive cyber attack.

Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel said officials are working hard to address the situation.

Some speculated that this was part of Iranian retaliation for the alleged attempted sabotage of Fordow.

Iran also said multiple recent arrests of Mossad officials and that its missile strikes in the Kurdish part of Erbil of Iraq were targeting secret Mossad sites there.

According to foreign sources, Mossad succeeded in striking three Iranian nuclear sites from July 2020 to June 2021 and possibly other sites related to the nuclear field, and until September 2021.
