A 34-year-old man was seriously injured Friday morning in Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine).

This worker was working on the RER E site when he was the victim of a serious accident: a strap surrounding the five tonnes of metal beams moved by a crane came off.

The load fell on the 30-year-old, reports

Two hour intervention

Stuck from the feet to the chest under the heap of metal, the worker was extracted by the emergency services after two hours of intervention.

He was transported in critical condition to hospital.

On Friday, he was between life and death.

One of his colleagues, hit in the back, was only slightly injured.

The RER E project consists of extending the line from Saint-Lazare station in Paris to Mantes-la-Jolie station, passing through the business district of La Défense and Nanterre.

The first part of the project was completed on February 16 with the completion of an 8 km tunnel from Paris to Courbevoie.
