A construction company was heavily condemned by the court of Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis) for "manslaughter", reports
Le Parisien
on Friday.
The Urban Works Company will have to pay a fine of 200,000 euros after the accidental death of a 21-year-old trainee on a construction site.
On May 28, 2020, the young man had fallen five meters from a roof.
He died a few days later from his injuries.
The investigation showed that the engineer was alone at the time of the accident, although he had only been on training for four days.
The director of works also condemned
A report from the labor inspectorate also concluded that “a lack of protection against the risk of falling from a height”, indicate our colleagues.
The director of works, absent at the time of the events, was also sentenced to two years in prison suspended and a fine of 10,000 euros.
A new hearing on civil interests for inexcusable fault is to be held on October 10 before the Nanterre court (Hauts-de-Seine).
It will then be a question of the sums to be paid to the family of the victim.
