The

Soviet-made military drone

that crashed in Croatia's capital Zagreb on Thursday was carrying a bomb, the Croatian defense minister said on Sunday.

it is an aerial bomb

that was used on Soviet-made aircraft," Croatian Defense Minister Mario Banozic told reporters. .

Croatian authorities said on Saturday that the aircraft was a

Tupolev Tu-141 Strizh

("Fast" in Russian), a drone made in the 1970s and 1980s for the Soviet Army, used for reconnaissance missions.

According to the minister, the

unmanned aircraft of more than 6 tons

has undergone "modifications (...) obviously in recent times."

"The remains of the explosive and other items found suggest that this device

was not intended for reconnaissance

," Banozic said.

The minister did not respond to journalists' questions

about whether the bomb had exploded

, nor could he specify the type.

The device crashed on Thursday night in a park located

six kilometers from the center of Zagreb

in a car park were damaged.
