The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced today, Sunday, that the prisoners in Israeli prisons are continuing their preparations to go on an open hunger strike on March 25, to demand a set of life demands.

The (non-governmental) club said in its statement that "the prisoners are preparing to go on an open hunger strike on March 25."

He explained that this step comes "to demand a number of life demands," noting that "the strike depends on the level of the prison administration's response to the prisoners' demands."

The statement added that "the prisoners' suspension of their struggle, which lasted for 33 days, in disobedience and rebellion against the prison laws, does not mean the end of the confrontation and their current battle.

Last Thursday, the Palestinian prisoners suspended their protest steps against the prison administration, after the latter retracted its procedures related to electronic gates and double searches against them.

The Palestinian prisoners are protesting against the measures taken by the prison administration against them after 6 prisoners managed to escape from Gilboa prison last September, before their subsequent arrest.

The prisoners demand "stopping the policy of classifying prisoners through the so-called (Sagav) procedure, which includes prisoners who have been classified by the prison administration as being of a high degree of danger. One room, and transferred from the department after 6 months, and from prison after two years.”

The Prisoner's Club stressed that "the prison administration seeks to impose a state of instability and more control and oversight on the prisoners."

The number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons is about 4,500, including about 500 administrative detainees, according to institutions concerned with prisoners' affairs.
