Come to the top

Winner of the classic sprint in Falun (Sweden) on Friday, his second consecutive victory after Drammen (Norway) last week, Richard Jouve won the World Cup sprint ranking by the wire.

Never has a French cross-country skier won a trophy at the end of the season.

"I am very happy for the whole team, this race rewards the whole season (...) Today I won a globe but I think it will not be the only one for this French team in the future “, assured Jouve to AFP.

The 27-year-old cross-country skier took advantage of the absence for two races of the Russians, undesirable since the invasion in Ukraine, and the best Norwegians, contaminated by Covid-19.

This is particularly the case for star Johannes Klaebo, who sees Jouve ahead of him by six points in the sprint classification.

The globe rewards the season of Jouve, mounted on five podiums in eight sprints, but very disappointed by his 7th place in individual at the Olympic Games in China.

Fourth in the general classification, he hopes to play the leading roles there in the future by focusing on versatility.

On Saturday, Clément Parisse took 8th place in the 15 km skate, Delphine Claudel 10th in the women's race (10 km).

Laffont 2nd

Disappointed at the Olympic Games by her 4th place, Perrine Laffont returned to competition and smiles with a 2nd place in the parallel moguls event at Chiesa in Valmalenco (Italy) on Saturday.

Laffont was beaten in the final by Australian Olympic champion Jakara Anthony.

Anthony has a 59-point lead in the general classification over the Frenchwoman, four-time champion of the globe, before the last two competitions of the season in Megève next week.

Disaster in ski cross

In the fight for victory in the general classification, the Blues Terence Tchiknavorian and Bastien Midol experienced the worst possible scenario on Sunday in Reiteralm (Austria).

They set off in a royal round of 16 with Swiss Olympic champion Ryan Regez, with whom they are vying for the crystal globe.

But Midol quickly made a mistake and mowed down Tchiknavorian by falling, preventing them from crossing the first lap.

Regez was able to continue his journey to the final (4th) and is now 41 points ahead of Tchiknavorian and 82 over Midol before the last race next week in Veysonnaz (Switzerland).

No slope for Ledeux

Big air Olympic vice-champion Tess Ledeux was deprived of her first competition on the world circuit since the Olympics, with the cancellation of the slopestyle World Cup, scheduled for Saturday in Tignes, due to the wind.

In snowboardcross, Olympic vice-champion Chloe Trespeuch finished 5th at Reiteralm on Saturday and lost all hope of the globe, which goes to Briton Charlotte Bankes.

Young Quentin Sodogas (20) reached the first final of his career (4th).

Léna Brocard finished 7th in the last competition of the Nordic combined season in Schonach (Germany) on Sunday, Laurent Mühlethaler 9th.
