The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, in coordination with the General Command of the Dubai Police, has expanded the scope of the Traffic Accidents Management initiative to include 15 fast and vital streets in the Emirate of Dubai, with a length of 425 km, during the next three years. The Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, said that the traffic accident management project is being implemented by the authority in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command, and in coordination with the Dubai Municipality, the Traffic and Traffic Prosecution in Dubai, the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and aims to: Rapid intervention to remove vehicles involved in minor traffic accidents or vehicles that break down on the roads, reduce traffic congestion, regulate traffic at accident sites, shorten the time to remove vehicles in accidents, and avoid secondary accidents as a result of sudden congestion, in addition to supporting Dubai Police in Organizing traffic and providing alternative routes during severe accidents.
He added: “The implementation of the first phase of the project will start in the second half of this year, and it covers seven streets, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Rashid Street, Al Ittihad Street, Al Khail Street (first phase), Dubai-Al Ain Street, Al Yalayes Street, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street. Al Rabat Street and Airport Street, while the second phase, which will be implemented in 2023, covers four streets: Al Khail Street (second phase), Emirates Street, Jebel Ali Street - Lehbab, and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
