China News Agency, Moscow, March 12 (Reporter Tian Bing) Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with French President Macron and German Chancellor Scholz on the 12th, mainly exchanging views on the Ukraine issue.

According to the Kremlin's website, Putin briefed the local situation on the humanitarian situation in the Donbass raised by the French and German leaders.

He cited numerous facts about Ukraine's serious violations of international humanitarian law, pointing to the systematic sabotage of Ukrainian nationalist groups that disrupted rescue operations for local populations and attempted to terrorize evacuated civilians.

Putin urged Macron and Scholz to exert influence on Ukrainian authorities to stop Ukrainian nationalists from committing crimes.

Putin gave Macron and Scholz a detailed account of a series of recent video talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives.

The leaders of Russia, France and Germany also exchanged views on relevant issues such as the Russia-Ukraine dialogue and negotiation as well as the demands made by the Russian side.

The leaders of the three countries agreed to keep in touch on the Ukraine issue.

According to Russian media reports, after the call between the leaders of Russia, France and Germany, a source at the Elysee Palace said that the three-way talks were "very frank and difficult", and the French and German leaders again called on Putin to immediately stop the special military operation in Ukraine.

With Moscow "showing no desire to stop the war", EU countries will announce new sanctions against Russia in the coming hours, the source said.
