(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Reporter's Notes: Retrograde in a heavy snow and breaking defense after a spring rain

China News Service, Hohhot, March 12th Telegram: Reporter's Notes: Retrograde in a heavy snow to break the defense after a spring rain

China News Service reporter Zhang Wei

It is said that spring rain is as expensive as oil, and the first spring rain in 2022 has a very precious meaning for Hohhot, a grassland in Qingcheng, which is coming out of the haze.

On the 12th, a press conference on epidemic prevention and control held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stated that local social cases continued to be dynamically cleared, and new cases were only detected sporadically at isolation points, and the city's epidemic prevention and control had achieved positive results.

The pattering spring rain fell overnight, which reminded me of the outbreak of the epidemic in Hohhot 25 days ago, when 3.5 million people were retrograde in a heavy snow.

My second "retrograde": 140km interview

February 15th is the Lantern Festival in 2022.

After get off work, I drove more than 70 kilometers back to my hometown to spend the holidays with my parents, and finally caught up with the dumplings and hot dumplings made by my mother.

While enjoying the good time of reunion with family members, in addition to the holiday blessings, there was also explosive news from the media friends: 3 cases of positive nucleic acid tests were found in Hohhot.

For me doing medical news, this news undoubtedly made me enter a state of "preparation" again: I had to rush back to Hohhot overnight.

At 11 o'clock at night, we set off.

This is my second "retrograde" since the first local outbreak in 2020.

Although it was late at night, there were many vehicles along the way, most of which were private cars speeding past the other side's lane.

At about 0:30 on the 16th, I got off the expressway and the epidemic prevention and control work at the expressway intersection became more intense.

That night, the entire Hohhot fell into a state of silence.

On the same day, it was officially announced that 3 positive cases were diagnosed, and I temporarily made an interview with Liu Weiping, a well-known infection control expert in Inner Mongolia.

The originally scheduled interview time, Liu Weiping, who has always been cautious and capable, was late.

She is busy running on the front line of epidemic prevention and control and various emergency epidemic prevention and control work meetings.

When I saw Liu Weiping, she rushed into the office quickly, changed her high heels, and seemed to be ready to "fly" out at any time.

Our interview was also completed intermittently when she answered the phone numerous times.

On February 17th, Hohhot ushered in the first snow after the beginning of spring. Snowflakes were flying all over the sky, getting bigger and bigger. The first round of large-scale nucleic acid testing was also launched on the same day and continued until late at night.

Residents wrapped in thick cotton-padded clothes and lined up in long lines for nucleic acid testing without any complaints; medical staff raced against time when the temperature dropped below -20°C, and their frozen hands kept repeating the same action thousands of times. ...

That night, Daxue swiped on social media, but there was less romance and joy, and more perseverance and moving in retrograde.

It was also from that day that I had to change the interview plan. The interview I had previously reserved was rejected because everyone was busy on the "epidemic" online.

And in the rounds of nucleic acid testing, I discovered and interviewed the clusters of "starlights" that light up the city.

Media people running in the ranks of volunteers

After the current round of the epidemic, tens of thousands of volunteers have joined the front line of the fight against the "epidemic", many of whom I am most familiar with from the media.

As a colleague and neighbor, the epidemic made me re-acquainted with "Tie Hanhan" Zhang Linhu.

After working together for nearly 10 years, Zhang Linhu, a "post-80s" who is not good at words and enthusiastic for the people, is "respectfully called" by his colleagues as Brother Hu.

Since everyone is always busy with their respective interview tasks, we rarely see each other whether in the unit or in the community.

Perhaps, during the epidemic, Brother Hu and I met the most, because during this time he was not only a reporter but also a volunteer, and he and other volunteers took turns on duty at the nucleic acid testing point in the community.

"Residents who haven't done nucleic acid, please go downstairs to do nucleic acid." Every morning, Brother Hu would shout over and over in the community with a loudspeaker; He cooks and takes his 7-year-old daughter to deliver meals to volunteers; in order to avoid too much contact, he will help the residents of the community put the label of each round of nucleic acid testing on the access card...

Because he is a volunteer, I have walked through the "back door" a few times.

In order to avoid gatherings during nucleic acid testing, Brother Hu would send me a private message to take samples every day when there were few residents in the queue.

In this round of epidemic, a total of 14 rounds of nucleic acid tests were conducted in the epidemic-free community. The duty from morning to night never made Brother Hu tired. Whenever I met him, he would always tell me some interesting stories during his volunteering period.

Perhaps, he is an excellent media person in my heart. He is not only excellent in business, but also maintains a positive and optimistic state at all times, and shows his own light and enthusiasm.

The "little brother" who was banned for wearing long pants at home

On February 15, communities involving people who tested positive for nucleic acid were urgently closed.

Coincidentally, my uncle lives in an epidemic-related community. He originally planned to go back to his parents' house for the holidays, but because of the temperature, he decided to go home and put on long johns before leaving after get off work, "As a result, I was delayed by a pair of long johns. The 'little brother' who went home for the holidays."

From that day on, the uncle and aunt started a "separated" life, and he began to record the life of living alone on his social platform.

Stir-fried vegetables, boiled noodles, braised pork... The ingredients fed by the community are complete. Uncle studies various delicacies at home every day.

The community has been closed for 25 days, and nucleic acid testing of residents is still in progress.

The picture shows the first spring rainy night in 2022. The residents of a community in Hohhot who have been under lockdown for 25 days sang "Singing to the Motherland" together.

A spring rain on the evening of the 11th ignited the passion of the residents in the 24 buildings here. Everyone opened the windows and cheered in the air. Under the leadership of the community volunteers, they sang "Singing the Motherland" together, which made all Hohhot people break their defenses instantly.

"This epidemic started at the beginning of spring, weaker than rain, weakened by Jingzhe, and ended in spring thunder."

"Spring rain nourishes the earth, all living beings, and the galaxy is ever-bright."

"Spring rain in Qingcheng is accompanied by spring thunder, and spring comes back happily after the epidemic."

  ...

Unsurprisingly, this spring rain has brushed the screen like the heavy snow when the epidemic first broke out. The difference is that spring has come, moisturizing things silently, and living in the sun.
