Refugees from Ukraine are being taken in with admirable commitment.

It not only shows that action can be taken quickly and easily at all levels – from the EU down to the local authorities.

One of the great achievements is above all - and once again - the commitment of aid organizations, spontaneous initiatives and private households, which no state could replace.

The accommodation could be simplified in the first emergency in an uncomplicated way.

In view of the constant influx, however, it will not work entirely without control.

Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser therefore had to give up her position after only a week that there was no need for distribution within Germany.

Since such a distribution is based on the "Königstein key" among the federal states, more coordination is required than before.

“Solidarity” alone, as the minister put it, is not enough.

There is still a lot to do, not only within Germany.

Apparently, the German authorities are also having difficulties because they are not only starting in Berlin, but are already starting to guide the refugees in the right direction on trains and buses at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

It would be a tragedy if the federal and state governments now accused each other of not living up to their responsibilities while the municipalities are in the starting blocks to master this crisis as well.

The call for a crisis team is therefore loud.

That could perhaps save the federal and state governments from Handel à la Corona.
