Recently, Ma Wenjun, a young Hungarian Chinese, has been driving between the border cities of Hungary and the capital Budapest, picking up and arranging compatriots entering Hungary from Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, overseas Chinese and Chinese students in Ukraine have been transferred to Hungary one after another.

In order to help these compatriots who came to Hungary, all Chinese associations in Hungary took action to raise funds to buy relief materials, send food and cold-proof clothing, and set up volunteer fleets to transfer and transport them, so as to bring warmth to the compatriots in Ukraine.

"We mainly run three border ports and four rescue stations to pick up our compatriots. The total mileage each time is nearly 1,000 kilometers. Basically, each vehicle can only run one round trip a day." Ma Wenjun was interviewed by a reporter from China News Agency. Say.

He said that after the volunteer team sent the compatriots to Budapest, they would be accommodated in the hotels provided by the Chinese Embassy in Hungary. The local Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Chinese Hometowns also provided some hotels and chambers of commerce for them to live in.

"Later, the hotel gradually filled up, and many Hungarian overseas Chinese vacated their rooms to receive their compatriots. For example, my home also hosted several Chinese students."

Ma Wenjun told reporters that because many of the people evacuated to Hungary were women and children, the Hungarian overseas Chinese community also raised funds to purchase a large number of children's toys, clothing and other materials to send to the Hungary-Ukraine border, and distributed them to many rescue stations established by the Hungarian government. , This move not only helped the Chinese, but also helped many other people who were evacuated from Ukraine.

"Dr. Chen Zhen from the Hungarian Qihuang Traditional Chinese Medicine Center kindly sent Qingfei Paidu Decoction, Huoxiangzhengqi Water and other medicines to the compatriots, and also provided free diagnosis and treatment for compatriots diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia and compatriots who were unwell during the evacuation process." Ma Wenjun said.

Cheng Suping, executive vice president of the Lishui Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, is over sixty years old, and has been running around in the past few days to deliver supplies and pick up his compatriots.

He told reporters, "On February 26, our chamber of commerce issued a proposal, calling on the overseas Chinese in Hungary to show their love. The overseas Chinese in Hungary responded positively and made contributions to help compatriots from Ukraine."

Cheng Suping said, "The Lishui Chamber of Commerce set up a volunteer team immediately. Everyone put down their work and went all out to complete the pick-up and resettlement work. The volunteer team was waiting at the border for compatriots entering Hungary, often staying up all day and night, trying their best to do their best. Let every compatriot and their relatives who enter the Hungarian resettlement site be properly resettled."

"It was snowing on the Hungary-Ukraine border for the first few days, and the weather was very cold. The compatriots who were evacuated from Ukraine traveled all the way to Hungary. Some of them walked in a hurry and brought little clothes, so we raised funds to buy some. Blankets, instant noodles, water, medicines, etc. were sent over, and I did my best to provide them with warmth," he said.

According to Cheng Suping, "Our volunteer service work has come to an end in the past two days. Various chambers of commerce and fellow villagers in Hungary have held social gatherings to invite compatriots living in Ukraine and Hungarian overseas Chinese to gather together and share their nostalgia, hoping to make everyone feel Wherever there are Chinese, there is a home.”

In fact, it is not only in Hungary. Recently, overseas Chinese from Poland, Romania, Slovakia and other countries around Ukraine are also helping compatriots evacuated from Ukraine.

Ye Jianxin, the twentieth chairman of the European Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations, told reporters, "After the European Overseas Chinese Association jointly launched a proposal to help overseas Chinese and students living in Ukraine at the end of February, the overseas Chinese groups in Europe took the initiative to join the team of helping compatriots. There are continuous relays and transfers between overseas Chinese in various countries, and the number of volunteers has not been counted."

Ye Jianxin said, "The war is ruthless, and the compatriots have love. Sharing weal and woe is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. If our compatriots encounter difficulties overseas, we must of course help each other. We will all be connected and help each other, and we will definitely be able to get through this difficult period. time." (End)
