The White House said that President Joe Biden has approved about 240 billion won in funds to provide arms and other munitions to Ukraine.



President Biden directed Secretary of State Tony Blincoln to allocate up to $200 million allocated through the Foreign Aid Act to the defense of Ukraine.



A senior U.S. administration official said the approval would amount to $1.2 billion in total security aid the United States has provided to Ukraine over the past year.



The funds approved by President Biden will be used to provide arms and munitions supplies to Ukraine, and to support military education and training.



Earlier, Congress passed the $1.5 trillion 2022 budget, which includes $13.6 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and neighboring countries.
