All municipalities in the country have been commissioned to produce a summary of how many emergency accommodation they can quickly offer for the expected wave of refugees from Ukraine.

For Västernorrland, this involves about 500 refugees in the first phase.

- We do not know exactly how many there will be, it depends on what it looks like when all municipalities have reported in, says Hanna Norberg, integration developer at the county administrative board in Västernorrland.

In Västernorrland, four municipalities have said that they have the opportunity to receive emergency care, and three that they do not.

Four out of seven municipalities receive emergency care

Sundsvall, Timrå, Ånge and Örnsköldsvik have announced that they have accommodation that can be immediately arranged for refugees.

These are schools, gymnasiums, hostels, barracks and former nursing homes and apartments.

Härnösand, Kramfors and Sollefteå, on the other hand, announce that they do not have the opportunity to assist with housing right now.

- They have stated is that you can not offer accommodation at such short notice based on requested criteria, says Hanna Norberg.

For example, it may be that the municipality does not own its own premises.

It is unclear where the places are

Exactly what the distribution looks like between the various municipalities in the county, the county administrative board does not want to go into at present and the authority has chosen to cover parts of the report with secrecy.
