The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced additional sanctions on North Korea's new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen introduced the sanctions in a statement on the 11th local time, saying, "North Korea continues to launch ballistic missiles that pose a significant threat to global security."

This action focused on foreigners and organizations that helped develop North Korea's weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and missile programs in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Two Russian nationals and three Russian institutions have been added to the sanctions list.

"This action targets Russian-based individuals and organizations helping North Korea," said Secretary Janet Yellen.
