In normal cases, the walrus lives in the Arctic and its surrounding seas, according to the National Encyclopedia.

It is unusual for walruses to visit Sweden and the west coast, but it has happened a couple of times before.

- It is highly unusual for us to be visited by walruses.

There have been walruses visiting Gothenburg in the 1920s, in Åsa in the 90s and 2003 around Tjörn.

But it is very unusual, says Kennet Lundin, associate professor of marine biology at the Gothenburg Museum of Natural History.

And that it is still on a bridge, could it be a sign that it is damaged or similar?

- It is difficult to comment on without having seen it of course, but you can say that it is a typical walrus behavior.

It may have swum very far.

A guess would be from Svalbard or Greenland which is closest to where there are walruses, says Kennet Lundin and continues:

- Considering the small grazers, it could be a female or a young male.
