Minister of Defense Kishi revealed that the SDF bulletproof waistcoat and helmet sent to support Ukraine under military invasion by Russia were handed over to the Ukrainian side, "to help save the lives of the Ukrainian people. I strongly hope, "he said, and expressed his intention to provide as much support as possible.

The government has revised the operational guidelines of the "Three Principles for Transferring Defense Equipment" to support Ukraine, and has decided to send bulletproof vests owned by the Self-Defense Forces. The aerial refueling and transportation aircraft departed from Komaki base in Aichi prefecture on the 8th of this month.

At a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi revealed that the SDF transport aircraft arrived in Poland, a neighboring country of Ukraine, on the night of the 10th of Japan time, and the bulletproof waistcoat and helmet were handed over to the Ukrainian side.

On top of that, Minister Kishi said, "I strongly hope that it will help save the lives of the Ukrainian people who are persistently resisting the aggression. We will continue to provide as much support as possible for Ukraine."

This is the first time that SDF bulletproof vests have been offered to other countries, and the government will now carry other relief supplies, such as winter clothing and emergency food, from ready items.
