A dispute over a shipment of electronic devices ends in a crime

The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a one-year prison sentence and deportation against six Asians, who lured a person of the same nationality, under the pretext of drinking a cup of tea with him, and unlawfully detained him in one of them’s residence, and beat him, to obtain a ransom in exchange for his release. As a result of previous disputes between them, due to a previous agreement with him to export electronic devices worth 200,000 dirhams to their country, and they were confiscated by customs there.

The first accused admitted that they got to know the victim a week before the incident, through a colleague of them, as he works in the field of export, and they presented him to a person who wanted to ship electronic devices valued at about 200 thousand dirhams, so he agreed with the latter, and shipped the goods, but it was seized from Before customs there.

The accused added that he went to the victim's residence in a neighboring emirate, accompanied by two of the accused, and asked him to accompany them to tea, after he had previously evaded answering their calls, and they took him to their residence, and three other accused were waiting for them, pointing out that they asked him On the reason for the failure of the shipment, he admitted to them that he wanted to seize it, so they told him that they would not let him leave the place until after paying the price of the goods or part of it, so he agreed to that, so they gave him a phone to call his family, but he was procrastinating, so they beat him.

For his part, the victim stated that there was a previous superficial relationship with the second defendant, and the latter asked him to search for people who would leave for his country to transport electronic devices in exchange for a ticket, so he brought them a person who was going to travel, but later seized those goods.

He added that the defendants asked him to accompany them to drink tea, and he had no doubts about their intentions, but they took him to a villa where they live in the Oud Al Muteena area, and beat him, and forced him to call his brother, so he explained the incident, and sent him the location of the villa, so his brother from India communicated with one His friends in Dubai, who informed the police, the accused were arrested, pointing out that he reconciled with them later, and gave up his personal right.

For its part, the Criminal Court concluded that the defendants were found guilty, and the Court of Appeal upheld the verdict.
