Abu Dhabi Police seize 1.5 tons of heroin worth 150 million dirhams

Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, announced that Abu Dhabi Police had thwarted the smuggling of 1.5 tons of heroin in cooperation and coordination with the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs.

Faris Al Mazrouei explained that the investigations of the Abu Dhabi Police Anti-Narcotics Directorate revealed the arrival of a suspicious shipment from one of the neighboring countries to Khalifa Port in preparation for its re-export to one of the European countries.

For his part, Rashid Lahej Al-Mansoori, Director-General of the General Administration of Customs, praised the continuous cooperation with the concerned authorities at the state level to firmly address all those who may be tempted to prejudice the security of the homeland and the safety of citizens and residents, and to direct preemptive strikes to drug dealers and dealers and thwart their attempts to harm communities and their youth.

He also noted the work plans and programs to address the risks of drug smuggling that the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs constantly develops with its concerned partners, as it works to raise the efficiency of human cadres with specialized training and rehabilitation programs, so that they can continue their role in confronting illegal smuggling attempts through the customs ports of the emirate.

He also stressed that Abu Dhabi Customs continues to develop technical inspection capabilities by providing its customs centers with the latest global detection and inspection devices based on smart technologies, in order to achieve the customs vision to be a leading customs authority in the world, leading change in an effort to enhance security and facilitate trade movement

For his part, an official at the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security affirmed the authority's keenness to coordinate with all concerned authorities in the country to combat drug smuggling operations and besiege smugglers to protect society and support stability.

The official stressed that the customs sector in the country plays an important role in combating the smuggling of narcotic drugs using the latest methods, foremost of which are the K9 customs dog teams, noting that the authority's unit provides rapid logistical support to all customs departments and the authorities that request this, which has strengthened the country's efforts in the fight against drugs. and smuggling of prohibited and dangerous materials.

He continued, "The security teams in the authority are always ready to cooperate and support their strategic partners in combating drug smuggling by exchanging information and supporting customs security inspections by security inspection devices and customs dog units."
