75 beds will be able to fit in the school's gymnasium, according to Birgitta Evensson, municipal manager in Årjäng.

- A big advantage is that it is closed and that you currently do not compete with students so it is an optimal room.

Then you can also use the kitchen and classrooms, she says.

Big challenge

Although the school is equipped locally, much work remains before refugees can move in.

Work is now being done to meet the requirements for temporary housing in areas such as operations, health protection, fire protection and food handling.

- There is still no equipment, beds or, for example, hygiene items here.

We hope to be able to anticipate long enough to also be able to meet personnel resources that will work here.

It is a big challenge, she says.

Within two weeks

It is still hoped to be able to open up within two weeks, according to Birgitta Evensson.

- We think we are in a very good position.

The premises are good but it is very practical.

Many are traumatized and we want to be able to take care of the people who come here in the right way, says Lennart Bryntesson (M) member of the municipal board in Årjäng and continues:

- This is also intended as a transitional solution before the people can be transferred to more acceptable and permanent housing.

Inventory

The National Coordination Office has, via a petition yesterday, requested that all municipalities quickly inventory temporary accommodation for refugees.

According to what has so far been reported to the County Administrative Board of Värmland, there are 1860 temporary accommodation places available in the municipalities of Värmland, where all municipalities have responded except three.

One of them is Karlstad municipality, which is currently working to produce the number of places.
