A monk in Thailand who accidentally won the lottery gave a prize of 670 million won to local residents and monks.

On the 6th local time, Thai media Khaosod reported that a monk from a monastery in the northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom won the lottery.

It is said that the monk stopped by a nearby restaurant at the invitation of an acquaintance and was unable to refuse a woman's request to buy a lottery ticket, so he bought her lottery ticket.

At that time, the monk bought three lottery tickets with the number '605', which was the number he saw while praying in front of the statue of 'Taowesuwan,' the Thai god of wealth.

All three lottery tickets purchased in this way won 6 million baht, giving a total of 18 million baht (about 670 million won).

Afterwards, the monk decided to distribute the entire winnings to local residents and monks at a rate of 500 baht (approximately 18,600 won) per person daily, and the monastery secretary, Phra Kru Panom Prechakon, shared this story through social media.

Then, more than 3,000 people started lining up in front of the temple from 6 am.

The monk, who has paid a total of 800,000 baht so far, has donated 4 million baht to the temple he is staying in, and said that he will donate the rest to charity.

As the monk's story became known through SNS, many netizens expressed their deep gratitude and respect for his good deeds.

This is a 'news pick'.
