The United States has settled the controversy over Poland's proposal to transfer combat aircraft to

Ukraine

, considering that it could provoke a reaction from

Russia

that would lead to

a military escalation with NATO

in the

war in Ukraine.

This was transmitted by the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, to his Polish counterpart, Mariusz Blaszczak, during the telephone call.

For his part, the President of

Ukraine

,

Volodimir Zelensky

, denounced a Russian airstrike against a children's hospital in Mariupol and again called for the

closure of Ukrainian airspace.

"Direct attack by Russian troops on the maternity hospital. There are people, children under the rubble. Atrocity! How much longer will the world be complicit in ignoring this terror? Close the airspace now,"

Zelensky

wrote on Twitter.

The IAEA denounces the cut of data from the Ukrainian nuclear power plants occupied by Russia

The

International Atomic Energy Agency

(IAEA) has denounced the cut in remote data transmission of its surveillance systems at the

Chernobyl

and

Zaporiya

plants in

Ukraine

, both controlled by

Russian

military forces .

In a statement, the IAEA director general, Rafael Grossi, was "concerned about the sudden interruption of these data flows to the IAEA headquarters in Vienna."

In both facilities there are large amounts of

nuclear material

in the form of spent or fresh nuclear fuel, in addition to other types of atomic material.

According to the agency, the reason for the interruption is not clear.

The IAEA continues to receive such data from other nuclear facilities in

Ukraine

, including three nuclear power plants located in the western part of the country, where so far there have been hardly any attacks by the Russian military.

"These systems are installed in various locations in

Ukraine

, including all nuclear power plants, and allow us to monitor nuclear material and activities when our inspectors are not present," Grossi explained in the note.
