China News Agency, Beijing, March 10. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a video meeting with French Foreign Minister Le Drian on the 10th at request. The two sides exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine.

Wang Yi expressed that the leaders of China, France and Germany successfully held a video summit the day before yesterday and exchanged in-depth views on the Ukraine issue and promoting the development of China-EU relations.

We should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the three countries.

Wang Yi said that China's position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear.

We stand for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, including Ukraine, for handling disputes between countries in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and for all countries' reasonable security concerns to be taken seriously and resolved.

We would like to see a ceasefire and cessation of war as soon as possible, which is also the general aspiration of the international community.

Wang Yi pointed out that Russia and Ukraine have conducted three rounds of negotiations. Although the two sides still have obvious differences, each time they talk, the differences will be reduced by one point, the hope of peace will be increased by one point, and the goal of ceasefire and war will be advanced.

China hopes that the international community will continue to encourage and support the Russia-Ukraine negotiation and create the necessary environment and conditions for this.

Wang Yi stressed that China pays close attention to the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. We have not only made great efforts to evacuate Chinese personnel, but also played a positive role in the evacuation of citizens of other countries, especially international students.

The Chinese side has put forward a six-point initiative to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and is willing to strengthen communication with the French side to push the UN Security Council to reach a consensus on this issue and make a common voice.

Wang Yi said that China has always advocated the careful use of sanctions and opposed unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction that have no basis in international law.

All countries in the world are an inseparable community. Given the sluggish global economic recovery, unlimited sanctions will undermine the stability of the international industrial chain and supply chain, aggravate food and energy crises, and hurt people's livelihoods.

All parties should calm down and do more things that will help ease the situation and prevent intensifying conflicts.

Le Drian expounded on the French side's position on the Ukraine issue, saying that the Ukraine conflict will not only have a negative impact on European security, but also on the global order and world market.

All parties should join hands to realize a ceasefire as soon as possible, take measures to avoid a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and promote a diplomatic solution to the problem.

The French side supports the efforts to promote peace and hopes that the Russia-Ukraine negotiations can continue.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue and agreed to make joint efforts to advance the final phase of negotiations on the resumption of the implementation of the JCPOA, so that the JCPOA can be resumed and implemented effectively, safeguard the nuclear non-proliferation regime and maintain peace in the Middle East.
