The complaint, formulated by fifteen foreigners denouncing the treatment received in the administrative detention center (CRA) of Nice, triggered the opening of an investigation, entrusted to the police force, announces this Thursday at

20 Minutes

the prosecutor of the Republic.

The soundtrack of a pornographic film had been broadcast in January, at prayer time, in these premises of the Auvare national police barracks, east of the city.

"We have just seized the IGPN of a preliminary investigation of the counts of sexual harassment, sexual blackmail by a person holding public authority, sexist insults by a person holding public authority and the dissemination of a message contrary to decency in a public place,” says Xavier Bonhomme.

Possible criminal consequences

An "internal investigation" has already been launched and the police officer "involved has already been sanctioned and transferred", according to the plaintiffs' lawyer Me Hanan Hmad.

But now, it is therefore in criminal matters that the case could be followed up.

On January 1 and 2, on at least two occasions, the foreigners detained in the Nice CRA, some of whom were praying, were able to hear these sequences unequivocally through the establishment's loudspeakers.

According to Me Hanan Hmad, who made the complaint, "the facts can be qualified as sexual harassment" and they "are all the more characterized as the official in question then offered paid sex to the detainees".
