Emmanuel Macron would go straight for a second term.

In an Odoxa-Backbone poll published Thursday, 79% of French people predict a re-election of the outgoing president on April 24.

An increasing share which is explained, among other things, by the role of warlord embodied by the president since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.

For nearly four out of five French people, the presidential election is a foregone conclusion.

According to an Odoxa-Backbone study published Thursday for

Le Figaro

, 79% of those questioned expect to see the head of state succeed him on April 24 for a second term.

A share up 13 points compared to February 2022. In the meantime, war broke out in Ukraine with the Russian invasion, an event which favors the reappointment of the outgoing president, according to 68% of those polled, with an Emmanuel Macron who dons the costume of a warlord.

The same observation among opposing sympathizers

The poll unveiled on Thursday also finds that 42% of those questioned, or almost half of the panel, would prefer not to change president in this context of war at the gates of Europe.

The prognosis of a victory for Emmanuel Macron is logically shared by the sympathizers of his own party (99%), but also by the opposing camps.

Thus, the supporters of the Socialist Party questioned are 86% to bet on a renewal of the head of state, the voters of the Republicans are 82%, and four out of five environmentalists also see the victory of Emmanuel Macron.

Conversely, supporters of the National Rally are the most divided, with 57% of them predicting the re-election of the head of state, with those of Éric Zemmour's party (61%).

Finally, no movement competing with that of the majority envisages a victory for its own camp during the presidential election.
