A man indicted for a rape committed on a vulnerable person and imprisoned in the Bois-d'Arcy remand center (Yvelines) was released on Wednesday for procedural flaws, AFP learned from a source close to the case.

This man, indicted for the rape and sexual assault of a woman "whom he knew to be particularly vulnerable because of her mental state" last June, had been remanded in custody in February.

He immediately appealed this decision.

However, "following an error", this appeal was not sent to the investigative chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal, "so that the appeal could not be processed within a useful time “, resulting in his release, according to this source.

Under judicial control

The Versailles investigating judge therefore ordered his placement under judicial supervision from Wednesday, with the obligation in particular to go to a police station once a week and not to come into contact with the victim.
