Färjestad's women's team has advanced to the penultimate qualifying step in the hunt for a place in the highest league, SDHL, next season.

The playoff semifinal against Malmö is played in the best of three matches and the Karlstad team started at home on Thursday night.

Julia Martinsson gave the home team a dream start when she made it 1-0 after 5.42 in the first period.

Malmö equalized shortly afterwards through Mille Kunnerup Sørensen.

Nice goals

With 27 seconds left of the period, FBK regained the lead when Line Bialik Öien nicely found Esteri Kalliomäki who distinctly scored 2-1.

The 3-1 goal was a delicious solo performance by Line Bialik Öien who fooled Malmö's goalkeeper Caroline Kromann Thomsen early in the second period.

Decided by extension

Malmö got up, however, and both reduced and equalized in the same period while the third remained goalless.

The match went to extra time and Malmö's Julie Jensen decided after 9.59.

Match two is played in Malmö on Saturday and a possible third match the next day.
