After the Chernobyl nuclear accident in April 1986, Djamal helped children to come to Sweden from Ukraine.

After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, several of the so-called Chernobyl children, who are now adults and have their own families, have contacted the organization The Star of Hope with cries for help to escape the war in their homeland.

Djamal Hamaili who is an employee of the organization has now gone to Krakow in Poland to try to help the families get to Sweden and eventually to Kärrsjö.

SVT's reporter Peter Nässén is on site to follow Djamal's work - see in the video when Djamal is reunited with some of the Chernobyl children at the train station in Krakow.
