The leadership of the Democratic Party, including Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil and the party's supreme member, resigned after taking responsibility for the defeat in the 20th presidential election.

CEO Song Young-gil held a press conference after the undisclosed supreme meeting at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the 10th and announced his resignation, saying, "I respect the people's choices shown by voting and humbly accept the results."

Chairman Song said, "I have always emphasized responsible politics, so as the party leader, I want to resign with the responsibility of losing the presidential election."

He added, "As the party leader, I'm sorry that I couldn't repay you with victory. Just like a farmer doesn't blame the field, let's trust the people and start over," he said.

He continued, "I don't have the courage to look back because it will only leave me with so much regret. I will not spare any effort to establish a democratic government."

The Democratic Party, which has entered the system of an emergency response committee due to the general resignation of the leadership, will hold a general meeting of members tomorrow (11th) in the afternoon to discuss countermeasures, with floor leader Yun Ho-joong serving as the vice chairman.

The Democratic Party plans to elect a new floor leader by the 25th.

Democratic presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung was appointed as the party's standing adviser.
