It was in April last year that the accident occurred.

A 73-year-old man was about to cross a pedestrian crossing with his dog when he was hit.

The injuries were so severe that he died.

The bus driver has always denied any wrongdoing and says that conditions, such as switched off street lighting at the site, made visibility limited.

However, the district court believes that the driver was obliged to adjust the speed and was not careful enough in the incident and therefore the driver is now sentenced for causing another person's death.

The penalty will be a suspended sentence and a 100-day fine.
